Let's try that again!

As you can see, blogging and I were not an instant hit. So, I am going to take another stab at it, and try to be a tad more dedicated this time around. (It won't be hard to top one entry!) I actually did have a freeservers site a couple of years ago, so I am not totally out of the loop. Lately though I have been feeling guilty for enjoying the blogs of my friends while contributing zip.

So the Burke bunch is busier than ever and so excited for fall (our favorite season) to be setting in here. We are in the middle of soccer season (Tanner), preschool (Andrew), and trying to walk (Margaret). I pulled out our Fall decorations last night and you would have thought is was Christmas morning. Everyone, including Margaret, got into the pumpkin spirit by digging through our boxes and hauling out flashlights, scarecrows, and bats -oh my!

Jason is working as a sales engineer for an electric distributor. Learning the ins and outs of this industry is a good challenge for him. As with any new career, this first year is keeping him hopping.

I am up to full-time mothering. You all know that includes a lot of driving, cooking, baby-rocking, birthday-partying, and a little time-outing too. So, I gave myself a big treat and attended Time Out for Women in St. Louis last weekend. It really was worth it. I especially loved Jason Wright, the author of Christmas Jars and Wednesday Letters; Hillary Weeks, I bought her new album and am loving it; and Cherie Call, a young mother and singer/songwriter with a real voice. I had attended a Time Out before and enjoyed it, but there was something different this time. The day just seemed to give me something I had been lacking. It made me realize how blessed I am to have the wonderful family that I do, and that I can try a little harder to be a better wife and mother.

So that is the Burke bunch in a nutshell. Leave a comment and let me know if this is worth the effort.

Margaret sure looks like a Burke. She is cute! Sarah, thanks for your sweet letter. It's funny that you look up to me, because I look up to you. I wish I had your style, grace and gentleness. I missed seeing you the weekend of the 6th. What happened? I hope you can plan another weekend to see us. I wanted to go to Time Out for Women, but felt it may be hard on my family and so didn't go. I guess that's a lame excuse. I wonder if they'll make a DVD of the speakers and musicians for this year? Love ya, Jana

Loved catching up with you---you KNOW I miss your family! The big news is we will be putting our home on the market in the spring and moving (back for me) to Hawaii. I want to be with my baby (Jane Noelani is 32) so I can do some more of that great mothering you do. Also, we now have 3 grands. Love to you all!! Judy Decker

Yeah for blogging! We are thrilled to be back in touch with you guys. That is so great that you went to Time Out in Saint Louis. Cherie Call was in our Stake YW presidency when I was in the ward YW presidency back in Springville. She is an amazing person. I love her voice too! Anyway, Margaret is gorgeous. Where does the time go??

James and I find that since being out of college we have not kept up with technology. We have not even attempted facebook, youtube, or blogging.
We love your update and other people's comments. I think of you often, especially our time together in the relief soceity presidency, as I am constantly learning in my calling as primary president. I have even greater appreciation for the ability you had to jump into being relief society president as a mother of young children.
I was very happy to see a picture of Margaret and hear about your family. James said he occassionally sees what he thinks is Jason's truck on campus, and wonders if work brings him here.
Amanda.

Glad you enjoyed Jason's talk at TOFW! I work with Jason and thought you’d like knowing he has a new contest on his web site where you can win a free trip-for-two to his hometown in VA, the Shenandoah Valley. All you have to do is mail him a Christmas card! All the details are here:
